Hello everyone,
Coming out of the closed beta, information about Mote is scattered across our blog.
This is a list of useful changes, and nifty features, to get you started on what has changed in Mote. It's not an exhaustive list, but we'll get there in the future.
* Mote supports Unicode. Macro writers will no longer need to agonize over special characters and substitutions to magically make their code work with the Maptool parser.
* Comments i.e. ''<!- - - ->'' works as they should. Anything in between them will be ignored by during execution. No need to put them in brackets i.e. ''[]'' anymore.
* You can find a macro by using ''Ctrl+F''. This will open the macro editor dock where you can type the macro name in. You can also make the search more specific by selecting a token (or tokens) beforehand. This will limit the search to the selected set.
* Fog of War and Vision processing is faster.
* JSON processing is also faster.
* New macro functions for tables, sound, SQL, along with other miscellaneous functions.
* You can view and switch the application logs in real time by using the Log Viewer Window. The active log is set when switching between tabs.
* You can view data saved on a token by using the Token Properties Window. You can also edit the data too, even JSONs! Note that when you click on an entry with a JSON, it will translate this JSON into a table view, and create a "breadcrumb" trail at the top of the window, which is used for navigation.
* Undo/Redo works like a charm. Additionally, you can also undo or redo drawn VBL objects.
* Our initial design for token bars for quick token management. The 1st bar is for a map's tokens, while the 2nd bar is for library tokens, and has a more "global" context. It keeps track of all libraries within your campaign, and switches to the map the library is located on, once an entry is selected.
* A dice bar for quickly putting together dice rolls, and saving these rolls for future use. You can set recipients for rolls, and the dice builder is capable of creating complex rolls that supports most game systems out there.
* We integrated the MapTool wiki into the tool. This is accessible from the Macro Editor. This wiki will be replaced by this TiddlyWiki, in due time.
* The Macro Editor supports code completion for MapToolScript, and syntax highlighting for all the languages MapTool uses. Namely: CSS, HTML, and MT script.
That's it for now.
